The excursion to the Saona Island is absolutely one of the most popular for those visiting the Dominican Republic.
Our excursion will take you to discover wild and uncontaminated beaches, shining examples of “Caribbean Paradise“, white coral beaches, crystal clear water and palm groves as far as the eye can see.
With taxis organized by our agency, and included in the price of the excursion, we will pick you up at the exit of your Resort (for those staying at Viva Village, Viva Beach and Viva Palace the meeting will be in front of our agency) at around 8:00 (the final timetable will be confirmed the day before departure): the departure is fixed at about 8.30 am from the port of Bayahibe, which is only 10 minutes from the main villages. Here we will accommodate you on a comfortable and stable motor catamaran, also called motomaran (click here to watch the video), with double hull equipped with cover, toilets and other comforts and two 300cc engines: these corners of Paradise in which we will accompany you, that is the main stops at the Mano Juan Fishing Village and at the Canto De La Playa beach, they are not reachable by boats of 100 and more people or by sailing catamarans (which can only stop at the first beaches of Saona, as the coral reef and the shallow water prevent them from approaching the shoreline) but only from speed boats, lances and the motomarans we use.
The first stop for our excursion is the Peñon (Taine Caves), where a guide from the Parque Nacional del Este will give you all the information on the national park and its morphology. Immediately afterwards we will move in the direction of the Natural Pools (click here to watch the video), an extensive area with a very low sandy bottom about half a kilometer from the coast, where we will stop for about 50 minutes: here you can swim in the crystal clear waters and there will be an open bar. Leave the natural pools, we’ll take a walk up to the Mangroves: the boat will go very slowly and you can comfortably stand on the bow to sunbathe and admire the many Starfish (click here to watch the video), which can be photographed but do not touch (it is forbidden) during the stop we will make to Snorkeling (the masks will be provided). When we arrive near the Mangroves, the guide will give you more information and where the lucky ones will be able to admire the turtles in their habitat.
Once back to the seats in the motomaran, we will continue towards the island of Saona. The first stop will be Mano Juan, a small fishing village where about 250/300 people live all year round. Here, together with the guide, you will visit the Village (with the fishermen’s houses in typical Caribbean colors) and the Turtle Sanctuary (click here to look at the image), where you can see the eggs and the newly hatched turtles (depending on the period: there are 3/4 months a year in which it will not be possible to observe them, due to their reproduction cycle). After the visit, you will have about 30/40 minutes of free time to bathe, have a drink and, for those who want, to visit the local market. The lunch, which will always be held at Mano Juan, will consist of: Grilled lobsters (extra service to be requested during booking), baked grouper fillet, pasta, rice, criolla chicken, salad (click here to look at the picture), drinks (beer included), typical liqueur (mamajuana) and coffee.
In the afternoon, after leaving Mano Juan and his colors and transfer to the motomaran, we will spend it in a corner of Paradise, the enchanting and fantastic wild beach of Canto de la Playa (click here to watch the video). A long beach, kilometers of fine sand of white and pinkish coral which is absolutely unoccupied neither by deck-chairs nor by umbrellas; a crystalline water in which you can immerse yourself surrounded by fish of various species and colors; a sea bed rich in Corals; rich palm groves that stretch across the bay, tall and imposing. We will stop for about 2 hours: you will be free all the time and there will be the possibility of Snorkeling near the Barrier Reef. During your stay, we will also give you mixed fruit and a dessert with open bar available all the time.
At around 5:00 pm, you will return to the port of Bayahibe and will then be transferred to your resorts.
To make the most of this excursion, we advise you to bring along your swimsuit, beach towel, sunglasses, sunscreen, repellent spray and a dazzling smile!
Please note that it will be at our sole discretion the decision to carry out the excursion or not: in case of bad weather and inability to navigate, we will postpone the same in another date or arrange for a refund.
You will have the opportunity to capture the wonderful moments that we will live together, thanks to the services of our professional photographer who will follow us for the duration of the excursion. The cost varies depending on the digital photo book requested.
